I believe emotion to be the root of expression; I try in the types of photography of actual people I take to capture the emotion. I find that without the emotion, the photo never truly lives; and it is in the capturing of that moment, the exact one with the smile, the love, the heart, or anything else which takes a photograph to the next level. Many say that at times photography lives with a style, or a feeling, an ambiance, I believe that what we feel inside can also make a photograph come to life; it is the passion and the love which makes a real photo.

I have found the city of Toronto to be a wonderful culture, full of unique architecture and fantastic geometric diversity. From the area I use to live, this city brings forth the inspiration to take a dream and turn it into a reality. Ranging from the ideas of urban terrain to bold architecture its strength comes to me in the form of colour and surreal ideology. I’ve taken what I’ve learnt in this city so far and applied it towards the places I’ve travelled to, and will continue updating this section as the future of urban photography unfolds in my life.

As the elements are united to create all physical and spiritual bonding, I have found a great need to attempt to photograph the elements in their many forms. Ranging from the basics elements of nature to the depths of the soul to which they unite; I have found solace in the ideas of these particular times and places. To take a photo is simply to create a sense of time and unite what we’ve viewed to what occurs naturally in the world around us. As the seasons progress I will continue my attempts to portray the beautiful living world we thrive upon, and in doing so; this gallery will grow.

On Victoria Day my girlfriend and I visited a site near to our house where fireworks were being ignited. The result gave me a portrait of a new style of photography by using the inverse capture of light and shutter speeds, timers and apertures. I found this set of photos to be quite interesting and am going to continue as time allows to take more of these type of photos. As a lesson in photography to myself I have found the quick pulsing of light through complete darkness to be a better tool of learning than many other teachings have brought me. Perhaps there is a lesson to be learned in the darkness, if we take the time to open our eyes for long enough to capture the light.

I’ve spent a lot of time in the past few years at the water fronts in Ontario, and in that time I’ve learned a lot. Each wave has a unique strength to it, a composition, angle and pattern. Ranging from the lowest ripple to the largest arc we see a portrayal which mimics the parts of our life from order to chaos, calm to unrest, and in a sense, life to death. The water tells a story of time passed, as eyes behold the patterns emerging and fanning out there is little but awe in it all. As my story passes as well, I will show you what I see.

Nature is the place where all things begin and where all things end; a never ending enchantment of wonders and fascination. Let it be from the smallest bit of dust to the awe of a perfect Sunrise, from anything to everything. We gain its lessons, and it brings us the answers before we even begin to know the questions; it is the ultimate path to everything. The natural is the result of all, and the beginning of all; more than a definition, more than life, it is all that there truly is in this world.

The sky is a place of never ending dreams, a place of wonder, enchantment and life; it’s path goes forever, it’s power is true. To photograph such a thing is only natural, a perfect display of our society.. it shows us that even through insurmountable amounts of damage, its true beauty still prevails.. a lesson we all should realize in this world. Nothing exists, but the sky.

Wildlife photography is the root of understanding a truth about the photograph most will never see. To take a thing as pure and untouched as true wildlife, and to grasp it’s essence in a photo is that root. The meaning is simply that to take the time to escape what most consider as life, simply to take a photograph of an animal in its natural surroundings, is a captivating thing. No one will ever know what photography is until they understand the expression of its creation.
